This fun loving couple are back to share their wedding day, which was captured by the fabulous Christina J Irwin Photography. Megan and Sean held their wedding in Villa Rose Hotel, Ballybofey, Donegal. Megan was a very eager bride and had SO many ideas that were greatly welcomed by Rhonda, the hotel’s wedding co-ordinator.
Rhonda was incredible and couldn’t have done anything more for us! During the lead up to the wedding she was never unable to take my call when I came up with something else I wanted to include in the day. She arranged fun activities for the children at the wedding. After the meal we had the next door room set up for all the kids and hired a children’s entertainer to keep them occupied. Orla from Party Pals was fantastic and kept the kids very happy with stories and face painting.

Megan spent a lot of time and shared a lot of love creating many things for her wedding day, including her amazing bridal bouquets (which included a brooch from all the women in her family), stationery, photo prop signs and the pageboy sign. All her hard work paid off and the day had a very personal and fun feel to it. Megan we salute your creativity! We especially love the flower girls cons which were given a girly makeover by Megan.
Megan’s divine lace wedding gown was purchased in Simones of Sligo. She knew the minute she tried it on that it was ‘the one.’ She didn’t want to take the dress off once the day was over. She accessorised her gown with a headpiece and earrings from a quaint vintage shop in Cork, whilst she glided up the aisle in her favourite ever shoes!

My shoes were my something blue, they are definitely my most favourite shoes I own! The second I saw them I had to have them, I knew I wanted something different for my shoes as I am a shoeaholic, there were so cute and pretty and definitely different!

Sean and I decided to have a first look before the ceremony. People still make that ‘you did what?’ face when I tell them about it, but it was so special. We chose to do it because I thought I was going to be a nervous wreck and if Sean and I got to meet before the ceremony, even just for a few minutes it would help keep me calm, but it turned out I was the only person who wasn’t nervous or crying the whole day! Poor Sean, I don’t think he will ever hear the end of it, he didn’t stop all day!

Megan and Sean’s ceremony was very intimate and personal to the couple, with Megan’s brother singing her up the aisle, alongside her dad to Snowpatrol’s iconic song, Chasing Cars. The couple’s younger sisters both read a poem and Megan’s grandfather sang the song he sung to her grandmother on their wedding day, there wasn’t a dry eye in the building at that point!

Our photographer was Christina J Irwin Photography. Christina is absolutely amazing, there is no one else we would have wanted to capture our day, she is practically family at this stage as she has been there to capture so many important events in our family over the past few years. We didn’t want just the standard posed photographs, I had hundreds of ideas, everyday I would be on Mrs2be or Pinterest and send links to Christina of pictures I wanted to recreate. She was the best photographer I could have ever wished to capture such a special day.

Our wedding was so wonderful, we had such an amazing day, everyone warned us how fast the day would go but I still can’t believe how quick it went. I have to say it is so depressing putting the dress back into the bag the next day, no one warned me about that, thankfully the Villa Rose Hotel have started an annual Wear Your Wedding Dress charity fundraiser meal so at least it will get a day out every year, well, as long as it fits!
