Aoife and Eoin’s Big Party

Today we have the lovely, relaxed wedding of Aoife and Eoin, whose day was captured by Emily Doran Photography.

After getting engaged in April 2011, Aoife and Eoin decided they wanted their wedding to include all their nearest and dearest in a big party, which is exactly what they had. Be sure to check out all the sweet DIY touches…

I didn’t really have a specific theme in mind, but after meeting with Danielle and Mary, the florists from Tie the Knot Flowers, they pinpointed exactly what I was trying to explain – a country style wedding in breathtaking surroundings. 

Being the middle child of seven girls going dress shopping was one of the most exciting and fun aspects of wedding planning for Aoife. She visited a fair few bridal boutiques from Dublin to Ennis with her sisters and sister in law, but it was in Poppy Bridal in Ennis that she finally found ‘the dress.’

Linda from Poppy Bridal was great and so helpful when it came to deciding on finishing touches like alterations, jewellery, underwear and the of course the veil. The veil she organised to have made for me in consultation with her seamstress and it turned out so beautifully, especially for someone who thought they didnʼt want a veil at all.

On the day for her wedding, Aoife was all ready to leave for the ceremony, amongst the chaos that is getting six sisters ready, she looked in the mirror and realised she didn’t have her veil on! She had to bolt up the stairs and get it before going anywhere!

The couple chose the Woodlands House Hotel, just outside Adare village for a number of reasons. They liked its country location and convenience to their church in Ballingarry, but most importantly they wanted to sit back and relax on their day, and both Aoife and Eoin knew that the Fitzgerald family would welcome them and take care of every last detail.

They were great to accommodate last minute changes and any requests we sent their way! We couldnʼt have been happier with the staff and the hotel, itʼs really a great wedding venue!

The ceremony was beautiful, it was quite personal to Eoin & I, with friends from Croagh Music School where I used to work, providing the music. Ciara one of my closet friends played the uilleann pipes, my sister Ann-Marie wrote a most beautiful and thoughtful reflection, my god daughter, Katie as flower girl, smiling from ear to ear was gorgeous and our celebrants being family friends made it also very special it really made the ceremony ours.

Following the ceremony Aoife and Eoin travelled to Ballyneale House, a private estate and neighbours of Eoin’s, to have their official photographs taken, before heading onto the Woodlands for their beautiful reception, which included many handmade details including the wedding cake, sweet table and table plan.
