I should never admit to having favourites, but when I caught a glimpse of today’s couples wedding car – well I got myself a favourite wedding car!
Beautifully captured by Emily Doran, today’s couple managed a chic and style filled wedding with perfect vintage harvest details and lots of quirk factor, so go on, take a look, we hope you’ll love it too!
Gary and I got engaged in September 2011 and we decided quite quickly to get married within a year-ish as a very close friend was getting married in Australia in November and the only way we could afford to get there was to use the trip as our honeymoon. We started with a list and a wallplanner and shared the responsibility. Together we got over any stumbling blocks with help from friends and family.
Luisa is originally from Limerick, Gary from Mayo and they now live in Dublin. They chose Our Lady & St. Lua Church, Ballina in Co. Tipperary for their ceremony. The church holds special memories for Luisa as her grandfather is buried behind it and she practically grew up in her grandparents’ home in Killaoe/Ballina.
See why I adore this wedding car!!?!
We absolutely love the bridesmaids’ bouquets by Flowers and Things – Luisa’s mum’s florists.
Luisa wore a stunning lace gown from White Orchid in Swords.
I saw my dress online. I knew what I wanted pretty much, so I googled the description, the dress popped up straight away and I made my way out to White Orchid in Swords. It was the first dress I tried on and I knew straight away. One of my bridesmaids brought her little girl to the fitting and she was crying and fussing, when I came out in the dress she stopped and stared for a couple of minutes, which sealed the deal for me!
Those Dune wedding shoes… swoon…
How cool are they guys’ hats! They picked them up from The Hat Shop in Dublin.
Luisa and Gary’s photographer Emily Doran managed to capture the fun the bridal party had so well during their photo session.
Luisa’s Highlights
Walking down the aisle as husband and wife, driving in Gary’s fathers vintage mini to our reception, sneaking up to the room for a drink on our own before we made our entrance – that was very special and important to take that break after the photos. Our first dance was beautiful, we danced to the bands version of Elton Johns ‘Your Song’ . I sang ‘I Know Places’ by Lykke Li during the band’s break with my sister on guitar and the band joined in on the last chorus, which was amazing! The whole day really was a highlight!
Gary’s highlights
I started the day by heading out on Lough Derg fishing with my Dad, two brothers and my sister’s partner. We got away for a few hours which really calmed me for the day ahead. I wrote my speech while having a pint of Guinness an hour before the ceremony and from there it was easy. My highlights were walking down the aisle after the ceremony, photos at Luisa’s Granny’s house, the first dance, the speeches and the overall happiness having everyone close to me there for the day.
Advice for other couples
Get all the big things done early, like the Church, venue, band etc There is a lot to do but don’t stress – everything comes together in the end and it will be so special when you see all your hard work come together.
Share the work equally; mind your budget. If something goes wrong don’t panic, either fix it, replace it or find an alternative.
